Post Falls City Council votes to fund overpass with urban renewal money

Rep. Robert Anderst, R-Nampa, says that the personal property tax in Idaho hurts the state when it comes to attracting new businesses.

Despite one city resident saying the city of Post Falls does not belong in the bridge-building business, the City Council voted 5-0 to fund a new I-90 overpass by extending the life of an urban renewal district, according to a story in the Coeur d’Alene Press. Four people testified against the idea, no one testified in favor of it.

Even with approval to use urban renewal funds, there are a number of hurdles to overcome before construction an proceed including the state agreeing to maintain the structure.

Estimated cost for the overpass is $17.2 million.
