Hydroelectric project planned near Homedale

Federal money is available from U.S. Department of Commerce for food processors to assist them in meeting food safety standards, and that money does not have to be accounted for under the governor's executive order asking agencies to catalog federal funds they receive.

The Fargo Drop, near Homedale, is a hydroelectric project with the capability of providing up to 1.27 megawatts of energy and power for around 800 homes. The project is one of several small small green energy projects going on throughout the state, according to Idaho Power.

The project will cost $1.7 million and is expected to begin operation by August 2012. Of that $1.7 million, $580,000 will come from the Bureau of Reclamation from grant money.
